Follow this approach to make a difference in 14 days

(7 days if you have friends like mine)

You ever feel like you’re doing something great in life and someone decides to come and kick you in the butt?

Well, this happened to me 14 days ago (should have seen it coming). Fortunately, this was something I needed so I’m not complaining.

Why am I telling you this? Surely it’s not useful advice? (ah, but it is)

Let me explain, but first let’s do a quick check on you:

  • Do you want to do everything your friends are?

  • Do you want to watch everything “useful” on YouTube?

  • Do you want to read everything the smartest people recommend?

You’re probably nodding your head at this point saying “yes” (just me? okay).

Great.

Then you’re doing the same mistake I did.

Wanting to do everything, everywhere, all at once (great movie by the way).

You see, social media makes everyone doing their own thing make it seem like you’re not doing anything. If you don’t catch up, you feel like you’re losing out.

“Comparison is the thief of joy” as the saying goes yeah?

Let’s be real. You have commitments in life. It’s not practical to do everything everyday. But how do you deal with that feeling of “not doing enough”?

By doing enough. Huh? What do you mean Rainar?

You see, I am often in the same situation.

I want to do a lot of things but I do two mistakes:

  • I don’t look back and appreciate what I have already done

  • I get distracted by multiple things and achieve nothing

So how do we achieve everything and not get distracted?

This is where it’s so simple, it’s super effective.

90 Day Sprints

What if I told you, you could learn 4 different things in a year, effectively? Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

12 Months split into 4 blocks of 90 day sprints.

Each block (quarter) to pursue one, and only one skill.

The condition? Simple. Do nothing but pursue that skill during those 90 days.

As my friend Kieran Drew says, it’s not too long to commit and not too early to quit.

You say no to everything else. (Please don’t forget to eat food and take a shower 🥲🥲)

How do you know this works?

The reason a friend kicked me in the butt 14 days ago? Because I lost focus.

You see, I want to make a difference in people's lives.

I don't want to be a philanthropist. I do want to help people.

To reach the right people, make a tangible impact and showcase what you can do, you need a few skills. (more on that in the future)

Can I have all those skills in 90 days? No.

Do I try to do them all together? (sometimes)

How do I fix this? I don’t. That’s why my friend, the diaper changer kicked me in the rear with a simple question - “why?”

I wanted to start a podcast (a week after telling him I want to learn copywriting). So yeah, I had that coming (sometimes my butt still hurts metaphorically).

The Solution?

I’ve already told you, but, I’m with you on this one.

I’m doing a 90 day sprint myself

14 days in and I can assure you it works. 76 more days to go and I can only guarantee it gets better

If you’re pursuing a skill but suck at it (like I do at copy), then a 90 day sprint is your friend.

Try it.

In fact, tell me about it and I will happily give you a kick (metaphorically of course)

We seem to be doing that around here

Until then

Cheers

Your friend
